The Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association is an educational non-profit organization that promotes occupational health and safety in the workplace with 62,000+ members including 63 Municipal Districts.  The Association is well led by Executive Director/CAO Craig Hrynchuk and his Leadership Team.  Core business includes the Partnership in Injury Reduction (PIR), Accountability and Reporting with WCB Alberta, Illness/Injury Prevention and Member Advocacy.   Municipal Compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and OHS Surveillance Program is provided regular updates.

2026 Orders Issued Snapshot for Municipal Districts is as follows:  Emergency Preparations -10%,

Equipment – 19%,  H & S Committee – 5%, Hazard Controls – 16%, Hazardous Substances – 14%, Worksite Obligations – 2%, High Risk – 2%, Violence/Harassment – 5%, Training – 16%, Working at Heights – 3%, and Worksite Conditions – 7%.  The total number of orders across all code violations from a year to year summary in 2022  was 6, in 2023 was 2, in 2024 was 1, in 2025 was 13 and in Q1 of 2026, a total of 58 orders were provided for code violations as noted above.

New to come out is the Municipal OHS Data Dashboard where you can transform your data into insights for your own OHS data, providing clear, data-driven answers to your important health and safety.  Phase 1 launch occurred this year with some municipal members with a Phase 2 launch with revisions to come out in 2027.
